There are many personal benefits that are gained from completing a year of service as an AmeriCorps*VISTA, please read through the historical benefits of 40 years of VISTA service

There are also service related benefits that VISTA volunteers are eligible for.  Below are a list of benefits and programs that are available to most VISTA volunteers and to the left is a glimpse of beautiful North Dakota.

  • Helping to develop your community
  • Living allowance
  • Holiday, sick and personal days
  • Education Award of up to $4,725 or an end-of-service stipend of $1,200
  • Training
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Health care benefits
  • Relocation expenses up to $550 if moving more then 100 miles
  • Student-loan forbearance or deferment
  • Non-competitive eligibility for government jobs
  • You may also be eligible for subsidized housing, food stamps & childcare assistance should you need it
